Sun's P30++/daily unlimited websurfing

Was just at home over the weekend, and guess what, made the most out of the Sun Broadband load i got hold of. Haha! Fun that they have a P250 load that will give you 24/7 service for 7 days straight.
So that's like P30++ a day for unlimited internet, which is not bad at all. I like consumer products that ultimately benefit the consumer. although i like their P100 load which lasts for 5 days i think this P250 thing much better especially during holidays when i will be mostly home.
although i hear criticisms that it is not for heavy downloading, I couldn't care less because i just want some youtube, recipes, facebook, twitter and blogging. And for that price, i think it is worth the consumer's money. Of course if you want something for heavy use then you can just get a DSL or a higher plan :)

Max's Here We Come

Me and my officemates will troop to Max's later to avail of their Max's Chicken-All-You-Can promo. We learned about it through this forwarded email we received and we confirmed it through a colleague who indeed went to max's and availed of the offer. Totoo nga!

we have been told by a colleague earlier that we better be early in time for the 6pm opening of the smorgasbord so that we wouldnt have to wait too long to get a seat.

of course we already had a game plan.

one of our officemates will proceed there much earlier to reserve a table...haha!

The skinniest person in our group -- Mae -- did not eat lunch just to make sure she could get her money's worth. (by the way i know, that even if she ate lunch she could still get her money's worth since she has the "healthiest" appetite among all of us! haha! don't let the body deceive you.

Joby, our other officemate. also chose not to eat lunch to prepare for our chicken dinner...

of course glenny and i could not resist having lunch. We told ourselves we would not just eat meryenda anyway. :)

We are just sad that our officemates Nardene and Kristy would not be able to join us.

Max's here we come!

Of Drive thrus and fast food deliveries

Considering my laziness nowadays, calling for food delivery services and drive thrus have become a blessing to me.

im happy because both Jollibee and Mc Donalds are sensitive enough to serve drive thru customers quickly in the morning, enough for customers not to think twice about passing by the drive thru enroute to work.

result: hash brown cravings satisfied.

later in the day, or sometimes even late in the evening..i pick up the phone to call for delivery. Pizza Hut is the one hotline i like most. the order takers are kind and patient. Cheerful but not OA. delivery sometimes does not even take 30 minutes!

Mc Donald's Delivery is also quite good, except that in the last two times that i ordered...

1. They forgot about the mustard i was asking for
2. They forgot about the promo glass that i bought, but billed me for it.

Anyway, the food came in in about 22 minutes so, hunger averted, and possible complaint derailed.

Shakey's service is so-so. I was asking if they could deliver by 10 in the morning, but they could not. i found it weird because the woman on the other line told me they open at around that time? shouldnt they be open by 9?

Anyway, the WORST experience is CHOWKING. Hands-down worst. Chowking has the worst service whether you dine-in,order-out, or have your meal delivered.

Dining in is just frustrating because the lines are so long, and the wait, longer. Take out of course takes longer too.

But delivery. Well..let me tell you a story.

One time,i gave in to my halo-halo craving and asked my officemates if they too want to order halo-halo for delivery. I placed my order and was told to wait for 30-45 minutes. 15 minutes later, a branch person calls me to ask if its ok for me to wait for 45 minutes (timer will be reset) because they are receiving a lot of orders in the store and what-have-you. Since i was deadset on eating the halo-halo i agreed, and told the person on the other end of the line to make sure that the halo-halo is not melted when it gets to the office. 15 minutes later, (yes you're right) i got another call. and you guessed it, they are again asking for another 45-minute extension. Now that's really bad service. i curse myself for allowing them to deliver still. If only for my wanting to satisfy my cravings.

A few weeks later (i know, hindi pa kami nadala), we again ventured into ordering at chowking and guess what, the order came in after 1 hour and 45 minutes. My officemate already cancelled the order but was told that its too late to cancel since the delivery guy is already on his way, and boom on the 105th minute, we saw him. When my officemate told the delivery guy that we have already cancelled the order, the delivery guy became sad, and told us that if we dont get the orders, he will be asked to pay for the whole thing.

poor delivery boys. because of inefficiencies in the kitchen and on the floor, they would have to shoulder the cancellations. Of course, our hearts were tugged by the thought that he would have to pay P700 so we accepted the food.

Well, Chowking has always been notorious when it comes to service. i sure wish that they could look at this aspect, so that their yummy offerings wont just go to waste.

Good News and Bad News

Good news before bad news.

Good news is i received our sky cable bill, and yes, from 3,100.00 a month it is now at 2,700 thanks to the decision to downgrade from Gold to Silver subscription. Nothing's changed really except that there's no animal planet, kidsco, cinemax, and two other channels i hardly care about.

in any case, i will survive with just having Anthony Bourdaine at AFC,Anderson Cooper on CNN, Rachel Ray and Martha Stewart on the Lifestyle Network, CinemaOne (i know, i know -- it is a guilty pleasure at times), Teleradyo, ANC, Nickelodeon, HBO and National Geographic. All of these channels that i like are in the Silver Subscription line-up of Sky. We also got five additional channel listings because of the digiboz installed on our TV :) i can say that im really happy with this set up.

Enter Bad News...

Heard and Read that Meralco is again asking for a rate adjustment.

how on earth could they ask for another hike when they have already upped our bills by 100%. isnt this the height of insensitivity. Two words come to my mind. Gahaman and Evil.

In any case, what can we do? we are being held hostage by this utility company because they know that we have no choice. If we do not settle our accounts,we wont have electricity.

i thought my day was real OK last night because of the SkyCable Bill until the Yaya told me what she heard in the news which I later verified from the papers. Poor pinoys. P-noy, do something about this.

The Dreaded Meralco Bill

less than ten days to go before we receive the dreaded meralco bill...

i wonder if it will ever go down, now that the peso is regaining its strength or because of the rains that have likely lessened the demand for 24/7 air conditioning.

this weekend, we had our aircon units serviced, and refrigerator rubbers (is that how you call the rubber on the doors...haha) changed. we figured, the 4,000++ we spent this weekend could hopefully reflect on our billing statement this month, if not the next billing cycle.

i always remember the time when i saw our bill jumped up from the usual 7k, to 8,9k and then to 14k...and after the announcement of lower rates, to 13k. ridiculously high for a normal power rate hike. i wonder if the utility owners could still sleep soundly knowing that they are robbing people of their money. i dont think our bill could just escalate to such a level.

Everyone i talk to...officemates, bosses, neighbors, even the meager skycableguy, complained about doubling of power rates.

it is just unfortunate that this took place during the height of the campaign, that bayan muna and other civil society groups, are busy campaigning for them to take this big issue to the streets.

i wonder if the guy who benefits from all the Meralco income could bring all the money he would earn from this highway robbery to his grave. very selfish to say the least.

The government on the other hand is not doing anhything about this, at all. Do you think the ERC took steps in questioning all these? i dont think so. I think they ar busy about the upcoming transition in the government.

Poor Pinoys.

every after payday, when i sit down to budget all our expenses, i look at the meralco column and think about all the things that i could do with the money that i spend to pay our power usage. Dont get me wrong i am a reasonable person. i know rates could go up during the summer, and i know we upped our usage, but a 100% increae is not just justifiable. 50% i can manage, but 100%, it is just evil.
